This mix was recorded on February 19th 2013 on a lonely, cold Canadian night. I live in a small city called Halifax that in the 90s and early 00s was a bustling, creative centre for underground music. We this old power plant that doubled as a soundstage for the CBC TV network; that was affectionately known as Electropolis. This place would have thousands of young people in this city sweating every weekend. In a nutshell, things looked as exciting as they do now over in the EU.
The reason I mentioned this, is because, I have an intense passion for music and I never got to experience it was like to be a part of ‘that’
I was born in 1991, and after the government stepped in and created new sound bylaws, and made the clubs close at 2AM, there has never been any like it since. I have always wanted to experience something like it…
The music in this mix, tells a story for me, of a longing for a deeper connection through the music to people like me all across the world. The music for me, when I play it, is meant to express my isolation, and intense desire to be a part of the unique culture; that so many of you share around the world.
